Your Tax Relief Starts Here: Stop Overpaying, Stress Less, and Build Real Financial Freedom.

The Edge You Need in International Tax

We don’t just handle your tax filings. We help you understand the tax consequences of your global footprint so you can build a strategy to protect your wealth and peace of mind, no matter where you live or work.

Navigating U.S. international tax laws is complex and ever-changing. Whether you're a tax professional seeking guidance, a business owner expanding globally, an organization sending its employees on foreign assignments, a foreign national relocating to the U.S., a U.S. citizen moving outside of the U.S., or an expatriate trying to stay compliant, Your Expat Tax CPA is here to provide expert solutions tailored to your unique needs.

With over 20 years of experience in international tax, we simplify the complexities of U.S. tax compliance so you can focus on what matters most: growing your business, living the life you dreamed of by relocating overseas, securing your financial future, etc.

About Us

At Your Expat Tax CPA, we specialize in bridging the gap between tax law and compliance for CPAs, tax professionals, business owners, organizations, and individuals navigating cross-border tax challenges.

Managed by Laura M. Tshilumba CPA, a seasoned international tax advisor, speaker, and CPE instructor, our firm provides comprehensive tax solutions, consulting, and education to ensure accuracy, compliance, and peace of mind.

We understand that international tax isn't just about numbers and behind every number there is a story, a journey. We understand international tax is also about strategy, planning, compliance, and protecting your financial well-being (and peace of mind). Our mission is to equip tax professionals, organizations, and individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to understand the tax consequences of their global footprints and to be globally tax efficient.

Who We Serve

πŸ”· Tax Professionals (CPAs, EAs, tax attorneys) who need specialized training or assistance navigating complex international tax issues for their clients.

πŸ”· Tax Attorneys who need tax compliance assistance with delinquent U.S. filings for their clients with foreign financial assets and income.

πŸ”· Immigration Attorneys helping non-U.S. residents understand their U.S. tax obligations before and after migration.

πŸ”·Real Estate Professionals and Closing Attorneys assisting non-U.S. residents with their U.S. tax responsibilities with respect to selling property in the U.S. (FIRPTA compliance).

πŸ”· Financial Advisors and Banking Professionals managing clients’ foreign pensions, cross-border financial transactions, and repatriation of foreign funds.

πŸ”· HR, Tax and Payroll Executives who need assistance with the U.S. tax compliance of their employees on foreign assignments, drafting tax clauses of foreign assignments, tax equalization strategies and calculations.

πŸ”· Business Owners and Entrepreneurs expanding internationally who need strategic tax planning to optimize their global structure.

πŸ”· Foreign Nationals who need assistance with tax planning prior to moving to the U.S., U.S. tax compliance and ITIN applications.

πŸ”· Digital nomads with a U.S. passport who need assistance with U.S. tax compliance, while understanding (and using) available tax provisions to mitigate their U.S. tax liabilities.

πŸ”· Accidental Americans who need assistance with their U.S. tax compliance.  If you were born in the U.S. or hold U.S. citizenship unknowingly through parentage, you may be subject to U.S. tax laws even if you’ve never lived or worked in the U.S. Many Accidental Americans find themselves blindsided by IRS compliance requirements, foreign account reporting (FBAR/FATCA), and potential penalties. We assist in bringing you into compliance and, if desired, guide you through the expatriation process to renounce U.S. citizenship efficiently and minimizing potential exit tax liabilities.

πŸ”· U.S. Citizens & Residents Working for the UN & International Organizations who need assistance with the U.S. tax compliance. Working for the United Nations or other international organizations presents unique tax challenges. Many professionals working for the United Nations, World Bank, IMF, and other international organizations assume their salaries are tax-free. However, if you are a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or tax resident, you may still be required to file a U.S. tax return and report worldwide incomeβ€”even if your employer does not issue a W-2 or 1099. We help UN employees understand their tax obligations, optimize tax treaty benefits and exclusions, and prevent costly mistakes that could lead to audits or double taxation.

πŸ”· U.S. Expats who need assistance with U.S. tax compliance, IRS offshore voluntary disclosure programs for their delinquent foreign disclosures, comprehensive review of their U.S. tax returns prepared by another tax professional to ensure their global tax liability is legally minimized, etc.
